The former Österreichische Elektrizitätswirtschafts-Aktiengesellschaft, publicly known under the brand name Verbund, is Austria’s largest electricity company. Verbund operates Austria’s supra-regional power grid and generates around half of the country’s electricity needs, mostly from hydropower.
Verbund was founded in 1947 under Austria’s Second Nationalization Act. In the post-war years, the company’s urgent task was to plan, build, and operate large power plants and the national transmission grid. From February 1996 to March 2000 I worked for Verbund in sales and key-account management.
