TIWAG-Tiroler Wasserkraft AG was founded in 1924 to build and operate the Achensee power plant. After the Second World War, TIWAG was designated as the state-owned company for Tyrol and tasked with ensuring the general supply of energy throughout the entire province of Tyrol. Since the liberalization of the electricity markets at the end of the 1990s, TIWAG has been conducting electricity trading with domestic and international companies.
I worked at TIWAG from April 1, 2000, to February 28, 2006. My main responsibilities were:
- Leading the “New Markets” sales team to serve customers outside Tyrol;
- Developing the sales network in the large-customer segment in the German-speaking region;
- Actively acquiring large customers and continuously participating in tenders from major energy-intensive industrial companies;
- Conducting contract negotiations with large customers as well as with electricity pools;
- Developing marketing and action plans;
- Implementing new instruments, models, and methods to meet the requirements of a newly competitive energy market.
Due to changing market conditions, TIWAG transferred the handling of external markets to its 50% subsidiary MyElectric Energievertriebs- und -dienstleistungs GmbH. As a result, on March 1, 2006, I moved to MyElectric as a Senior Key Account Manager.
